Try This! Instrumental Group Experience

PURPOSE: Enhance behavior, focus, patience, and pride.  Studies show that playing an instrument helps in lowering the heart rate and blood pressure, which in turn lowers the stress hormone cortisol, thus making one feel relaxed. Extensive research has proved that playing a musical instrument enhances academics and helps develop social skills such as how to relate to others, how to work as a team, and appreciate the rewards that come from working together also developing leadership skills. Learning an instrument builds confidence, and enhances patience and other mental, emotional, and cognitive abilities. It improves creativity and develops discipline leading to a tremendous sense of self-achievement that helps accomplishments in other areas of your life. Playing a musical instrument can bring back the fun factor into life a.k.a. a much-needed diversion.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: A one-time opportunity to try a string instrument in a group lesson setting.

TARGET AUDIENCE: Coburn Place, Crane House, Lutherwood, Julian Center, The Children’s Bureau

LOCATION: Programming on site.

SIZE: not to exceed 20 in a class
DURATION: 45 – 50 minutes
